The true story about the chapel.

Skinnarbacka (the Chapel of Elim) was built during 1877 by the Baptist's. They started to congregate already 1860, but at that time the meetings were held in private homes. The estate to build the chapel on, was given to the church by esq. Lord Hamilton, who also allowed the church to take the timber from his estate.

J.F Ålberg who designed the house, also designed the new Boo Castle and a famous restaurant in Stockholm, Berns (Salonger). A meeting for all children in the neighborhood was held during Sunday mornings (Söndagsskola).

The renovation was started by the present owners during 1995 and is still ongoing. The chapel is seen today as one of the most beautiful chapels in the county of Hallsberg, Närke. Traditionally, when spring comes to Skinnarbacka, a popular exhibition is held in the dining room, for one day, converted to an art gallery with pieces of local art from invited artist's. The dining room itself is a gallery even during normal days and it's well worth to pay a visit.

The present owners is running a Bed & Breakfast in the main building and also in the cottage house which was used during the old times as carpenter's workshop and as a laundry. The cottage house is also totally renovated and painted in the original colours.

Children will enjoy the inhabitants of the barn, they can also play with the house dogs Lina and Rolle or fondle the cat Lisa. Skinnarbacka is situated about 48 km south of the city of the county, Örebro.
